A prominent marketing professional and thought leader with over two decades of marketing and senior-level general management experience shaping strategy within a number of world class organisations. 

Strengths include solid business acumen, considerable insight into consumer behaviour, specialisation in digital and content marketing strategies, two decades of B2B experience, an excellent academic record and strong leadership skills. Howard has the capability to think both strategically and tactically, resulting in a well thought-out integrated business and marketing approaches which have demonstrably added to companies’ bottom lines. Having moved between dramatically different industries (including the highly regulated Financial Services sector), he has a proven ability to adapt marketing fundamentals to the specifics of individual businesses. Howard has developed new brands as well as repositioned and built existing brands very successfully. He is a talented presenter and spokesperson.

Howard is the Founding Director of a sales and marketing company which represents Rio Tinto Minerals (part of one of the world’s largest mining companies) in Southern Africa, and is currently Executive Director: Marketing at GIBS – Africa’s largest and highest ranked business school.

There are few Marketers in South Africa who can claim Howard’s wide-ranging experience and qualifications, which include a Masters in Marketing, an MBA and the CMSA Professional Designation. He is committed to driving professionalism within marketing and has sat on the Board of the Marketing Association of South Africa, currently sits on the Advertising Standards (Appeals) committee of the Adverting Standards Authority and was one of the first marketers in South Africa to be awarded the Chartered Marketer (SA) professional designation. He also sits on the advisory board of the CMO Council Africa, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).
